"Of course, laws will not eliminate prejudice from the hearts of human beings, but that is no reason to allow prejudice to continue to be enshrined in our laws, to perpetuate injustice through inaction."
Shirley Chisholm
REFORM
REFORM the criminal law and criminal justice system with focus on dismantling the racially bias and insensitive policies within. Federal, state, and local governments must move forward with progressive and community-driven policing models as outlined in the Obama administration’s “President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing” report from 2015.
REINVEST
REINVEST in communities of color throughout the United States that have endured decades of systematic racial and economic injustices. Decades that have created opportunity gaps for black and brown children, crumbling infrastructure, affordable housing shortages, high un/under employment, and concentrated pockets of poverty. Through targeted public/private partnerships and intentional investments in both place and people, revitalization becomes a reality for communities that have longed for a way forward.
REIMAGINE
REIMAGINE our communities as places where everyone is given a fair chance to achieve the “American Dream.” It is through the elimination of food deserts, expansion of economic opportunity, and development of sustainable communities that we can all thrive.
